WE LOVE TO TEACH KALARI

About Us

Hi, we are Andy & Nicole. Husband and wife that love to practice and teach Kalari. We started Kalari Movement as a way to share and promote Kalari in the United States, we live and teach in Salt Lake City, Utah.

We have found that learning, practicing and teaching the health and wellness aspects of the art to be the most beneficial to us and those we teach.

Our instruction is focused on self-improvement and that means something different to everyone.

Some people want to have better balance, improved endurance, learn how to focus or meditate while the body is in motion or all around better balance, mobility and flexibility.

There is something for most everyone in a Kalari practice. But that does not mean this practice is for everyone. You either love it or you don’t.

We have taught people in many walks of life, wide ranges of physical skill and ability levels.

We enjoy helping people with the journey of self discovery, improvement and empowerment.

Our Kalari Training

Our training comes from Gurukkal C.M. Sherif of Malabar Kalarippayat Academy located in Kerala, India.

The academy is recognized by the Kerala Sports Council and the only Kalarippayat Academy recognized by the World Martial Arts Union.

The lineage is around 800 years old and is one of the most well rounded Kalari schools in all of Kerala; Focusing on Northern, Central and Southern styles and the Healing practices of the North and South.

This knowledge has come with deep gratitude. We are so grateful to our teacher and all the teachers that have gone before him for learning, protecting and sharing Kalari through the generations.

Our Kalari Mission

We strive to bring Kalaripayyat out of obscurity in the United States. The practice has helped us in so many ways, and we know it can benifit so many others. For those looking to age well and be strong, balanced, mobile and felxible. Kalaripayattu is for you.

We were told a story about our teacher C.M. Sherif ando one of his teachers. He searched out a specific Gurukkals, learning as much as he could about the Southen, Cental, Northern and the Healing Practices. One particular Gurukkal asked him why he wanted to learn the art. He said he wanted to learn another aspect of the art and expand his knowlege. The teacher dismissed him. Unsure why he thought it over and returned multiple times. On the final ask the Gurakkal exlpained to him that if he was just going to keep the information to himself he was not worfh teaching. The art, the knowledge, the tradition had to carry on and be passed on, keeping the art alive.

Therefore, we are here to share the art that has been shared with us.
